I'd be interested in getting together a sort-of combination to go to India and be mutually supportive of each other whilst each finds a way. That's more or less what a lot of immigrants to this country did, form mutual-aid societies to help each other get established in the new land.

I find it sadly ironic that the main opposition to immigrants here tend to be of Italian descent. Firstly, because the same type of crap was said about them(weird clothes/food; women covering heads; weird religion:et cetera), and secondly, it's a myth that immigrants in the past tended to be "legal". Hell, with laws designed to keep them out, how could they have been anything else?

Tony Benn (ex-Labour MP) is, post-London Attack,
been one of the tiny handful of politicians (along
with Conservative MP, David Davies, who thinks an
ID Card Police State is pointless), to say some-
thing sensible. Benn is expousing we have a grand
Peace Conference in the Middle East, about all the
Middle East issues. It sounds naively idealistic,
and his detractors claim that, the people behind
such abhorrent terrorism - 9/11, Madrid, London,
etc. - wouldn't want to be involved, so why bother?

By why not? Only crushing the exponents of terrorism
with global-political accepted policies can really
win against a collectively-empowered, but essen-
tially, self-governed 'movement' (as most poli-
ticans describe al'Qaida) and his bunch of
brain-washed, pre-conditioned, ill-educated
extremist bastards?

And this all started about Baby Spice... LOL

I fancied 'Posh' because she was kind of rubbish,

I sort of fancied Ginger and Scarey both for different reasons. So you think "Posh"'s name was more or less a form of Swiftian irony? (For those who don't know, Swift wrote a book on Ireland in which he proposed solving the persistent famine there, caused by England, by a sort of Soylent Green solution involving Irish babies. Of course he wasn't serious.)

Jaqui Fuchs(Fox), ex-Runaway, has compared The Spice Girls to her old band when she was in there. While I believe the analogy to be a bit specious, I can see a few paralells. The most obvious is that both had five members, they each had sort of different personalities, and they had a shitload of intersquabbles.

Speaking of wordplay again, isn't "Spice Girls" more or less a euphemism for prostitutes? Think of the fact that "Mac", a quite common Gaelic patronym, is also a short term for a pimp. Think of "ginger" being a euphmemism for both Irish and a pimp. I'm sure you see where I'm heading. For those who don't "ginger" is a spice. It's also a tart flavor.

I'm surprised just how salacious "Wannabe" is. The one is telling a prospective sex partner that he would have to have sex with her friends as well to have it off with her. The description of "Posh", if read properly, makes her out to be exactly what you say above. She "doesn't come for free, she's a real lady," priceless, pun intended!!

As for the sample actually being a sample, it just sounds familiar to me. If you listen carefully, it has that clipped sound of samples, rather than the naturally fading sound of a keyboard being played.

Their aliases were coined up by a journalist for
tenny-mag Smash Hits. - I forget his name, but he
usually makes a big deal of the fact that he
actually didn't think too hard about it, in most
interviews.

It was only after the names were coined that
their marketing people began adjusting their
personas accordingly.

I found Ginger's first autobiography - not that's
she's important enough to warrant one, never mind
two - in a bargain bin for 50-pee once, so for the
craic, I bought it...

She waffles on and on in that torpid kitchen
sink way of hers about this and that, but it's
actually her early-days struggles (on game shows
in Turkey, etc.) that are the most endearing.
As soon as the SG come along, the book effectively
ends, because the lawyers probably prewarned her
to keep it schtum.

Her post-SG documentary is hilarious. Again,
it's like eternal recurrence really: it unfolds
rather touchingly, with Geri having no idea what
to do next; vunerable; humble; supping mugs of
tea in her back garden; but then, as soon her
mis-cast UN post comes along, that one sip of
power is enough to send that self-deluded ego
skybound - Whhhooossshhhhh!!!!! - screaching
(figuratively, metaphorically, musically [comeback
single] into the ether like a cheap firework rocket.

It ends ostensibly portraying Geri feeling lonely
in her palatial new London pad, clutching her
little dog and looking forlong into the future.

A few years later...

Despite what any press release may say, in the UK
media, she's mostly known, nowadays, for 'refinding
her boobs.' She's always great TV, though.

I do recall something about her days doing TV in Turkey. I take the fact of her being a bit longer in the proverbial tooth than the rest made her more fodder for the media.

Sun-fodder for sure.

I think Posh is great. Ive never heard anyone say anything about her other than she is great fun and charming and considerate to her friends.
She was also the most womanly of the spice girls as opposed to, Dyke, Gobby Docker, Cartoon, and Dippy fairy.
